Scientific Programme
More than 100 years after the first description of Micrococcus melitensis by Sir David Bruce, brucellosis is still of major public health concern both in endemic and non-endemic countries all over the world. The impact on animal and human health is severe and eradication and control of this zoonotic disease remains a global and interdisciplinary challenge.
A provisional programme has already been prepared. It includes a number of high-quality plenary sessions that will present the very latest research across a number of fields:
- Taxonomy, Evolution, Emerging Species
- Genomics, Proteomics and Metabolomics
- Host-Pathogen Interaction
- Immunology
- Vaccination
- Diagnostics
- Human and Pet Brucellosis
- Livestock Brucellosis and Food Hygiene
- Wildlife Brucellosis
Each session will start with a keynote lecture of 25 min + 5 min of discussion followed by short oral communications of 9 min + 3 min of discussions. Besides the lectures, poster contributions are integrated into the academic programme, to create a broad discussion forum for many subject areas.
