Identify Risks - Protect Health

We are a scientifically independent institution within the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMELshort forGerman Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture). Our institute advises the Federal Government and the federal states on issues relating to food, feed, chemicals and product safety and informs the public through transparent risk communication. Another task is the protection of laboratory animals. We conduct our own research on topics closely related to our responsibilities.
