Project description:
The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) aims at strengthening AI and data competences in its research institutions. The "AI & Data Accelerator" (KIDA) project will drive forward the cross-institutional development and expansion of the necessary skills and resources in a triad by the end of 2025. This triad consists of:
- the vision for a technical infrastructure and related resources enabling efficient work in the field of AI and data,
- the central goals and core results of the KIDA project,
- the strategic initiatives to realise the goals and core results.
In order to realise the vision for the technical infrastructure the KIDA project pursues three central objectives:
| Objective 1 | Increase AI and data literacy: Build and strengthen AI and data expertise in all institutions by creating efficient structures for competence development and knowledge exchange within and between institutions. |
| Objective 2 | Expand technical infrastructure: Establish and operate multi-institutional infrastructures that enable efficient development and use of AI technologies, with a focus on sharing these technical infrastructures. |
| Objective 3 | Improve the usability of data for AI applications and AI models: Develop solutions to efficiently provide data for AI technologies and offer AI solutions as interoperable services, including the creation of shareable resources to address legal issues. |
The aforementioned goals and associated tasks will be implemented by teams in eight cross-institutional initiatives.
