BfR Commission for Cosmetics
BfR advises the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) on consumer health protection issues. If required, BfR assesses cosmetic ingredients with regard to their safety for consumer use. In this work, the Institute draws on the support of an expert panel for cosmetics within BfR, the Commission for Cosmetics (Cosmetics Commission).
Tasks of the BfR Commission
The tasks of the Commission for Cosmetics include, for example, advising BfR on questions from BMUV and from Land monitoring authorities on health safety, regulatory matters and amendments to the Cosmetics Ordinance and its annexes.
The findings and recommendations of the Cosmetics Commission reflect the current level of knowledge in the field of cosmetics and are available to all interested parties as decision-making aids.
Members of the BfR Commission
The Commission comprises experts from universities, Land authorities and industry as well as experts and specialists who can be called on when expertise is needed for specific and cross-disciplinary matters.
