Brucellosis 2014 International Research Conference
On behalf of the Executive Committee of the International Brucellosis Society, we are delighted to announce the Brucellosis 2014 International Research Conference, including the 67th Annual Brucellosis Research Meeting, which will be held at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in Berlin from 9 to 12 September 2014.
Veterinarians, medical doctors, biologists and the whole scientific community dealing with Brucella are welcome to join and actively shape the upcoming conference.
The number of conference delegates has steadily increased over the last five events. About 400 participants from more than 50 nations attended the most recent international conference held in Buenos Aires in 2011. Due to the current conference venue in Berlin, we anticipate that about half of the delegates will come from other European countries. Because of a satellite symposium of the European National Reference Laboratories planned by the EU/OIE/FAO Reference Laboratory for Human and Animal Brucellosis in Paris, a total of 43 representatives from almost every European country are expected. The other delegates will come mainly from North and South America, Africa (especially from Arab North Africa), Asia Minor and South East Asia.
The conference will be organised by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung, BfR) in cooperation with the Federal Research Institute for Animal Health (Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut, FLI) under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
Scientific presentations will run from Wednesday through to Friday. Given the early start planned for Wednesday morning, we hope that many delegates will arrive on Tuesday to benefit from the Wednesday morning sessions and to participate in our Tuesday evening get-together. Registration will begin in the morning of Wednesday 10th September. Please save the date in your diary and book your travel arrangements early because autumn is conference season in Berlin.
Following the success of the past international conferences, we want to provide a comfortable platform to discuss hot topics, recent developments and changes in all fields related to brucellosis and its causative agent Brucella.
We look forward to seeing you in Berlin for what promises to be both an enjoyable and inspiring conference for everyone.
